The relegation battle in TDM1 is heating up

With the competition in TDM1 nearing the Playoffs, it's starting to get a little warmer for a couple of teams at the bottom of the rankings too.

Most teams in TDM1 have played 19 games so far, meaning there are about 9 regular season games left in the season. So let's take a look at how the standings are playing out.

It seems like the TDM1 rankings are divided into 3 different sections:

• Section 1: the favourites

• Section 2: the Playoff battle

• Section 3: the Relegation battle

In Section 1 we can find 5 teams who have separated themselves from the pack. The leader in the race is CB Liège (16-2) who seems like the team to beat in TDM1. Guco Lier (15-4) and Croonen Lommel (13-4) are tailing them, looking like the main contenders. Floréal Neufchâteau (12-7) keeps adding wins to their total, so they'll look to finish in the top 4. Finally we have two-time defending champs LDP Donza (12-7) who seem to be heating up at the right time once again.

In Section 2 we have four teams who are battling for the remaining 3 Playoff spots. Basket Ieper (9-10) was doing just fine in the standings, but 2026 hasn't been that friendly to them, as they haven't won since January 3rd. Antwerp Giants B (9-10) had quite the opposite run, with the team having won 8 out of their last 10 games. BBC Falco Gent (9-9) and United Basket Woluwé (9-9) find themselves in the middle of the pack, with a 50% win rate. One of these 4 teams will probably not make it into the Playoffs, we'll have to see who.

Finally in Section 3, we have the 6 teams who are fighting an intense battle to avoid relegation right now. The standings are:

11. Rucon Gembo Borgerhout (6-13)

12. Basket Willebroek (6-13)

13. Insurea Kontich Wolves (6-12)

14. Spirou Basket B (5-14)

15. G&V Breakpoint Basket Waregem (6-12)

As you can see, these 6 teams are only separated by one point right now. This means anything is still possible and it will be exciting to follow the weekly results. According to the competition rules, there are 3 teams who will be relegated to TDM2. So the teams finishing in spots 13, 14 and 15.
