In the undisputed duel between numbers 1 and 2 in the ranking, Basket Willebroek and BC Sprimont, it was BC Sprimont who came out on top 63-79.

In Top Division Men 2A, two teams have been standing out of the bunch all season: Basket Willebroek (13-5) and BC Sprimont (13-5). Last week we had the high-anticipated matchup between both teams, on the home court of Basket Willebroek. BC Sprimont had won the first matchup 85-83.

Basket Willebroek put together a complete team, whereas Sprimont had to miss their big man in the middle Pierrick Van Den Brule with a broken arm.

The game started tight throughout the forst period, with Sprimont taking a slight lead due to strong guard play by Thomas Castagne: 15-21. The visitors pushed forward in the second quarter as Castagne had help from fellow guard Néo Collin. Three consecutive triples gave them the 25-39 lead which resulted in 34-48 at the half.

Willebroek lacked offensive power against Sprimont, as they had built their lead up to 20 in the third. A couple of bombs by Philippe Peeters gave Willebroek hope at 52-63. Another barrage by Collin and Castagne pushed back to 52-70. Peeters had another mini-run in the fourth, but couldn't get his team closer than 9 points. Final: 63-79

Willebroek: Haerbos 8, Gysbrechts 11, Luyten 5, Van Sande 5, Lenaerts 2, Ackermans 6, Peeters 20, Baetens 2, Tchako 4

Sprimont: Randaxhe 2, Meunier 14, Geubel 12, Castagne 18, Lambermont 5, Collin 28, Dekeyser, Nicaise, Kempeners
