A real upset took place in TDM1 last weekend, as United Woluwé (3-8) stunned league leader Falco Gent (10-1) on a buzzer-beating lay-up by Antoine Malliar.

BBC Falco Gent suffered only their second loss of the season over the weekend, in a confrontation with TDM1 newbie United Basket Woluwé. It was a last-second inbound play, finished by new recruit Antoine Malliar that gave Woluwé the upset win.

Woluwé was not afraid of the league leader at all and took a fearless start to the game, leading to 16-22 after one quarter. Led by Malliar and the De Vreught brothers, the visitors pushed to 28-39, but Falco took over again with Jasper Ünal and Aaron Van Vooren leading the team to 43-41 at the half.

A flurry of Alexis Amerlinck threes (he leads the league with 42 triples) put Woluwé on top again and we were off to an exciting ending to the game. Falco rallied in the fourth quarter and a terrific Ünal put the home team back on top 67-66. In a back-and-forth affair, it was Woluwé who took away the win in a stunned Falco gym: 80-81.

Woluwé seems to be getting in the right form, with their third win in four games. Falco saw their 9 game winning-streak snapped and has a big clash against Waregem coming up.
